news in san francisco, police are at the scene of a shooting involving two locations. one is south of market, the other is in the city's financial district. news chopper 2s is over the scene not long after shots rang out just after 4:00. a man in his 30s was shot in the torso. the driver was not hurt and drove to market and davis where he then flagged some help. the victim was taken to san francisco general with life threatening injuries. police say the shooter who took off running is still at large. >>> san jose police say an elderly man who was reported missing early last month was found stabbed to death in his apartment today. we first told you last week how police were looking for 69-year- old stanley jacobson who suffered from dementia. jacobson's family found his body just before noon today. a suspect has been arrested but there is no other information at this time. >>> coming up, a quick break from the rain but more wet weather is on its way. i'm using storm tracker 2 isolates spots where the rain is falling tonight. >> but first, a cyclists fatal crash with a pedestrian. wh
, and san francisco, promoting the idea of having a super bowl right here in this new same. they are promising a dynamic super bowl where you do not have to worry about electricity. they promise you will thought see a power outage like the super bowl in new orleans. the new stadium will have two new electrical substations and solar panels to provide extra energy. the new stadium is about 30 percent complete. it is set to open next year. it will cost about $1.2 billion to build. it is a finalist to host the 2016 super bowl. it is now between santa clara and south florida. this is the first super bowl here in the bay area since 1985 and 49er owner says the bid committee will present the bid at ownerss' meeting in may when the host city is chosen, so, today the mayors, the c.e.o., all will be showing off the stadium. they will give tours to the media. they will lay out the reasons why the super bowl should be held right here in santa clara. >> thank you. palo alto police have released a sketch of an armed robbery suspect. look at the man would robbed a public storage facility

4 news starts now. >> pam: breaking news tonight at five. san francisco police right now. investigating a shooting. this happened just before 4- pm, the victim found on the corner of market and davis streets. after being shot more than a mile away. at this hour -- muni service is being diverted. kron 4's terisa estacio is live at the scene -- terisa what is happening right now? >> reporter: this is very much a developing situation. i want you to focus your attention on this car. they are telling this off of market street. market street is shutdown. they are going to tow this car. there was a shooting about four blocks away with three people, involved. one person was shot. the passenger was the person that was shot. the driver looked are run for a hospital but somehow ended up on market street. they pulled off to the side is that is when police surrounded the vehicle. the hospital administrators are dealing with them now. in the meantime they have taken the driver to police headquarters to taken into the headquarters to question him. they are still searching for the third

after 10:00 this morning when san francisco police tactical officers made entry into the building here on jennings street in the bayview district. that suspect said the reason he came out is he didn't want to be bitten by the police dog that had just entered the building. it started about 3:50 this morning when a worker inside this marijuana grow operation said they were being robbed and called police. there were four men with masks on inside. police arrested three running away from the scene but the fourth stayed inside holding four people hostages. tactical units tried to make contact. by 8:30, they were able to get those hostages out. then 90 minutes later the arrest. >> you seen the tactical officers clear the building, so they're confident that there are no more suspects inside the building. at this point the investigators will methodically search the building for any type of weapons or evidence that might be related. >> reporter: those four hostages were led out, walked away and unharmed. right now at the bayview police station giving a statement to police exactly about what went

is tracking a storm headed into the bay area. you're looking live at san francisco -- gloomy skies. the coming rain has some people in san francisco's west portal neighborhood on edge. they have been trying to dry out. since a watermain break last week flooded homes. leaving some un-livable. i am here in the weather center rett jacqueline bennett. >> we anticipated it to be in santa rosa at this point but it is still in the works. through santa rosa and by eight we are talking about widespread rainfall. notice it is one right towards the golden gate. that bay bridge light show will be at 9:00 p.m. it will be dry but by 9:00 p.m., 10:00 p.m. it will press over the bay bridge. i think that it could hold off by 9:30-9:45 if you're going to see that tonight the initial flip of the switch should be glad. but it could overtake it with rain through vallejo. through midnight the rain will make it very slow progression. with portions of the south bay and to the east bay. the inland valleys will not be impacted until about 2:00 a.m. it will press through, overnight with spotty shower activity. we will f
, rocks would come down, wash out the road, and by the 1960s, early '60s, san francisco developers proposed building tens of thousands of new housing units on the hills behind pacifica, the hills behind the little towns along the san mateo coast. caltrans in 1960 drew up a plan for a six-lane freeway that would have gone right up over the top of the mountain, pacifica, to the airport at half moon bay. environmentalists started fighting. got it slowed down in a lawsuit in 1962 then jerry brown became governor and sort of stopped the project. it was stopped for a while. in the '80s, cranked it right back up again. as many folks may remember, the sierra club community for green foothills and others, in 1996, they finally won this battle with a measure they put on the ballot in san mateo county. measure "t" for tunnel they used to say. it passed 74% to 26%. it took a while to get the money. you know, this project is one of the major environmental victories in the last 50 years on the northern california coast. >> they've made it a real environmental project. so the walls on the outside
